One common occurrence that can happen after taking a dip could result in total hearing loss if it's not dealt with.
Summer holidays are just around the corner, meaning it won't be long before many of us will be swimming in the sea more or taking a quick dip in the pool to cool down.
Getting water stuck here isn't just irritating - it can lead to an unpleasant infection, or even worse, total hearing loss in some cases. That's according to audiologist from Boots Hearingcare, Hannah Samuels, who has issued a warning to holidaymakers. Ear wax is water repellent, so having water in your ear isn’t too much of a problem as it will usually end up trickling out on its own. But issues can arise when the water doesn’t find its own way out, and infections such as swimmer’s ear develop, which can lead to much more serious ear infections.
