Students have been urged to shelter in place as authorities seek a suspect who is 'armed and dangerous.'
According to a UVA website, Jones was a freshman on the football team in 2018 but did not appear in any games.
He had previously played linebacker and running back at Petersburg High School in Virginia. It was not immediately clear whether he is still a student at the university. In a message to students, Vice President and Dean of Students Robyn S. Hadley said: 'We have all received several shelter in place texts, and they are frightening. I am on Grounds like many of you; I am sheltering in place and in direct touch with University leadership and UPD.This is a breaking news story and will be updated.
