Sparked by two early 3-pointers, Smith scored a career-high 24 points to go with five assists and four rebounds. He closed the first half by banking in a runner just before the buzzer that put Purdue ahead by 17. At halftime, Edey had taken just five shots and had four points. Edey attempted just two shots in the second half. Smith took 10, well above the 6.4 shots per game he was averaging coming in.
