Cooks is a player that brings speed and versatility to an offense in need of it.
So once again why has Cooks, a man of his talents, played with the Saints, Patriots, Rams and Texans? Why?“I’ve really never gotten upset because obviously that means someone out there wants me to be a part of their group,” Cooks said. “I’ve been fortunate enough to go for some great draft picks. I think I’m just fortunate enough to be able to play with so many great organizations and make an impact in this league everywhere I’ve been. So it excites me.
Cooks has never had the chance to reach unrestricted free agency, a phase most players desire. He didn’t sound disappointed about where his career has gone because numerous NFL teams sought his services. “I think it’s special because I didn’t get to free agency, Cooks said. “So people jumping the gun and get to me before I get there so that’s the way I look at it. I look at it in a positive light.”
You have to wonder if Cooks is underappreciated for his work. In the years he’s produced 1,000-yard seasons, including a career-high 1,204 receiving yards in 2018, he wasn’t named to the Pro Bowl.Some of the players who were named to Pro Bowls over him during the seasons he’s produced 1,000 receiving yards are among the best in the league, including Calvin Johnson, Dez Bryant, T.Y.
