Sudan, which the U.S. removed from its State Sponsors of Terrorism shortly after signing the Abraham Accords, has broken out into civil war. Thus, for the fourth time in his presidency, Joe Biden has had to evacuate an embassy in an ostensibly allied nation. And in what has become a sadly common occurrence, U.S. efforts to rescue American citizens are resulting in global embarrassment.

Although Biden has boasted that the embassy evacuation is complete, the country has failed to clear out the rest of the 16,000 Americans still stuck in Sudan. The White House's dereliction of duty is anomalous for a world power. India estimated it had just 3,000 residents in Sudan, yet the world's most populous country managed to launch a rescue mission,"Operation Kaveri," for its citizens earlier this week, with hundreds already moved to Saudi Arabia.

Biden has previously had to evacuate the embassies of Ukraine, Belarus, and Afghanistan, all countries that were both peaceful and friendly to the U.S. until the start of his presidency.Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki defended the administration's actions by claiming that the Kabul evacuation was"unique.

On Monday, White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said that the U.S. had begun to"facilitate" the evacuation of the Americans by land, but that no U.S. troops are on the ground. The result is emblematic of the administration's entire foreign policy: under Biden, Americans depend on other countries for safety.
