The future of a demolition-threatened Nottinghamshire chippy remains unknown after its building was sold. Bambos Charalambous, 52, and his family have run Blue Circles Fish Bar in Front Street, Arnold, since 1990, but in November last year a plan to reduce it to rubble was passed by Gedling Borough Council.
Earlier this year the council purchased the shops 135-141 on Front Street, as well as the neighbouring former Working Men’s Club. It is not certain whether they will follow the previous landlord's plans to demolish the current units, two of which are occupied by Blue Circles Fish Bar and Front St Café, to create nine apartments and two new ground level shops.
