'A Russian terrorist satellite has officially stolen the citizenship of our Ukrainian child,' an adviser to the mayor of Mariupol said Friday.
"We must always think...about preserving the life and health of our soldiers and officers," Putin said, according to a transcript on the Kremlin's website."There is no need to climb into these catacombs and crawl underground through these industrial facilities."
A Ukrainian official said that Russians in the city of Mariupol have begun issuing birth certificates to children born there. "For now, the occupiers closed the square of the Left Bank district from Veselka Park again. This may be due to another attempt to storm Azovstal or street fights," he said, adding that"despite public objections," Russians were starting a property census in the city. It's unclear where else Russians may be issuing birth certificates amid the country's invasion of Ukraine.The development comes after Russia's invasion has dragged on for more than two months. While Russian forces initially targeted the capital city of Kyiv, they failed to take the city
from the area earlier this month. Recently, Russia has turned its focus to the eastern Ukrainian region of Donbas.
