Anthony Joshua loses fight against Oleksandr Usyk
Following his win, Usyk paid tribute to the Ukrainian military, and said that he is only interested in fighting WBC champion Tyson Fury next.
He added:"I'm sure that Tyson Fury is not retired yet. I'm sure, I'm convinced he wants to fight me. I want to fight him, and if I'm not fighting Tyson Fury, I'm not fighting at all." "Defending the title of world champion is a symbol that all those who are of Cossack sort will not give up their own, they will fight for it and will definitely win!"
Their fight in Jeddah though was a different story, with Joshua giving a far better performance against the Ukrainian compared to that of last year, landing blows and occasionally unloading on Usyk.

Usyk vs. Joshua 2 round by round updatesOleksandr Usyk will defend his WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight belts against former champion Anthony Joshua on Saturday at the Jeddah Superdome in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The bout is a rematch of a Sept. 2021 fight that saw Usyk control the rounds from the opening bell en route to a unanimous decision on the scorecards (117-112, 116-112, 115-113). It was just the second defeat for the Brit in 26 professional fights to that point. Will Joshua find redemption in the Middle East similar to his rematch win over Anthony Ruiz Jr.? Or will the Ukrainian once again assert his dominance and keep his unblemished record?Heavyweight title contender Otto Wallin says he's picking Usyk on Saturday night.“It's hard to go against Usyk just because of what he did in the first fight,” Wallin told The Athletic. “It wasn't like it was a complete shutout, but Usyk was of course the better guy. Joshua looked like he was just fighting to survive and he didn't really go for it. It looked like a training session. That has a lot to do with confidence and it seemed like Joshua didn't want to get hit and risk being knocked out. Unfortunately that's a part of boxing and heavyweight boxing.“You always want to have good defense, that's very important, but at the same time you can't just go in there and expect to take no punches. You got to be ready for that and have an answer for it. You can't fight not to lose. You got to fight to win and I think that's a really big difference. When you fight not to lose, you're defensive, don't want to get hit and not really taking any risks. With a guy like Uysk, you need to take risks and be aggressive to take him out of his game plan. If you don't, he's just going to be brilliant and do his thing.”The Athletic will have full coverage of the mega-fight.
