The UK government is starting to distribute winter fuel payments to assist households with their energy bills during the colder weather. The payments are available to both benefits claimants and non-benefits recipients, and will be gradually sent out over the next few weeks and months. You will not qualify if you have been in hospital getting free treatment for over one year, if you need permission to enter the UK and your granted leave says that you cannot claim public funds, or if you were in prison for the whole of the week of September 18 to 24, 2023.
