U2 Release New Song 'Atomic City' Ahead of Las Vegas Residency

filmed a video for a new song titled “Atomic City” in downtown Las Vegas. Ahead of the band kicking off its, U2 has officially released the Las Vegas-inspired track.

The song’s title pays tribute to the city’s history when in the 1950s, it was known for being close to the Nevada Test Site for the atomic bomb. As for the song, “Atomic City” is a straight-ahead rocker that would fit in on any of its post-2000s albums. It is the band’s first song since “Your Song Saved My Life,” which appeared on the“It’s a love song to our audience …’where you are is where I’ll be’,” Bono says of the song, produced by longtime collaborators Steve Lillywhite and Jacknife Lee.

In addition to the audio, the band released the video that they filmed a few weeks ago. Directed by Ben Kutchins, the video was shot in the same area in Las Vegas where U2 filmed its clip for “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” over three decades ago. The video features drummer Larry Mullen Jr., who will not perform with the band during the residency as he recovers from a medical procedure. These are the band’s first-ever shows without the drummer.
