Election results: Swad leads Webb early in Texas’ 32nd District

Swad was holding a significant lead over Webb when The Associated Press called the race for him at 11 p.m.in the March 1 primary for Texas’ 32nd Congressional District with 40% of the vote, while Webb also had advanced to the runoff by finishing second with about 18% of the primary vote. “The American dream doesn’t come from a government handout. It comes from hard work and opportunity,” Swad said in a campaign video. “In Congress I’ll fight to preserve our freedom and the American dream.”
Webb had touted the endorsement of Rep. Pete Sessions, R-Waco, who recorded a video in support of the candidate praising his military service and saying Webb had the “ability and the desire” to represent the district well.Federal Election Commission reports that ended May 4 show Swad had loaned his campaign about $1.3 million by that point. Webb, on the other hand, had raised only $33,188 by then.
