U.S. gasoline prices climbed for the second consecutive week amid rising demand, refinery maintenance, and the switch to summer gasoline.
U.S. gasoline prices rose for a second week in a row, to average $3.40 per gallon on Monday, up by 6.2 cents from a week ago, amid rising demand, ongoing refinery maintenance, and the switch to summer gasoline, GasBuddy said today. Still, the national average price of regular gasoline is 4.5 cents per gallon lower than a year ago, said GasBuddy, which has compiled price data from more than 12 million individual price reports covering over 150,000 gas stations.

With government data showing a rise in refinery utilization last week, there may be some good news on the horizon for drivers,” De Haan said.
