More than 1,000 people have died from the coronavirus in the United States alone, according to experts at Johns Hopkins University.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Italy had the highest number of deaths, with 7,503 dead due to the coronavirus. This was followed by Spain with 3,647 and Hubei, China, the province where the outbreak started, with 3,153 deaths. With the U.S. passing 1,000 deaths, that would put the country at No. 6 on the list of countries with the most deaths. No. 7 would be the United Kingdom with 465 deaths, less than half the number of people who have died in the United States. The U.K. has 63.
