Climate activists have deflated the tyres of dozens of SUVs parked in Leeds overnight.
The group left leaflets on windscreens telling owners their "gas guzzler kills" and "SUVs and 4x4s are a disaster for our climate".The environmental group said SUVs in Meanwood and other suburbs had been targeted but had avoided those used by blue badge holders.SUVS have been targeted in other cities including this one where a leaflet was left on a windscreen in Sheffield
"They've targeted ours which is a Skoda SUV and further up the road they've let the tyres down on a hybrid Honda.He said he believed the group made assumptions about SUVs and their owners which were not true.A camera at the front of one home caught the moment the car tyres were let down He added the group had not considered the potential impact if someone, such as a doctor or nurse, was called out overnight and set off without realising their tyres had been let down.SUVs are typically defined by their large size and off-road features such as high ground clearance and four-wheel drive.said increasing demand for SUVs was the second biggest contributor to the growth in carbon emissions.
