Tyrann Mathieu is going to test the free-agent market. If he leaves Kansas City, JustinM_NFL says these 3 teams would be the best fits for him. FrontOffice33 | NFLFreeAgency

Kansas City Chiefs superstar safety Tyrann Mathieu appears primed to reach free agency. According to, general manager Brett Veach decided to apply the team's franchise tag to left tackle Orlando Brown on Monday morning. The Chiefs entered the offseason $4 million above the salary cap, per Spotrac, and were always going to be forced to make some extremely difficult decisions in March and beyond.

Mathieu may be the odd man out, and his do-it-all skill set is expected to be in high demand. The 29-year-old former LSU standout remains in the prime of his career and is capable of lining up at essentially every defensive playmaking position. Since joining the Chiefs, Mathieu has showcased the abilities to play in single-high coverage, to come down into the box and impact the run game, and to line up in the nickel and cover opposing tight ends and slot receivers with terrific effectiveness.

General manager Eric DeCosta could spend the offseason revamping and retooling his secondary as the Ravens attempt to bounce back from a disappointing playoff-missing campaign. Peters is a prime candidate to be released, and the likes of Jimmy Smith, Anthony Averett, and DeShon Elliott are unrestricted free agents. The Ravens possess just $9.7 million in available cap space and will have to release or restructure several contracts if they hope to aggressively attract players in free agency.
