Two teenage boys have been charged with criminal damage to Rochdale's war memorial. Greater Manchester Police has confirmed the charges this morning .
The charges relate to an incident at Rochdale Cenotaph on Tuesday, November 7. The two boys cannot be named for legal reasons, due to their age. One boy has been charged with racially aggravated criminal damage. Both have been released on bail. Detective Chief Inspector Stuart Round said: “I hope the swift charges provide some reassurance to the public that our investigation is moving at pace. "I understand the emotional distress that has been caused in the local community by the damage to the Cenotaph and our team of detectives will continue working tirelessly to hold those responsible to account.” Further information about the incident can be reported to GMP by calling 101, quoting incident 1294 of November 7, 2023, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
