Police are following several lines of enquiry
Greater Manchester Police said officers were 'made aware' on Saturday, March 8 of reports of a rape in Queen's Park off Chorley New Road in the town.READ MORE: Prisoner's controversial sentence 'may have played some part' in his deathIn a new update today , Greater Manchester Police said both suspects have now been released on bail pending further enquiries into the incident.
Detective Inspector Ruth Atherton, from GMP's Bolton division, previously said that detectives believe the incident was 'targeted' and the victim, who is female, was being offered specialist support. She said: "I understand that this will be alarming to our communities, but please be assured that we are following several lines of enquiry and we have dedicated neighbourhood officers and PCSOs out in the local area. Please speak to them if you have any concerns.
"We do believe that this incident was targeted, and we have specialist officers supporting the victim at what is a very difficult time."
