Twitch has announced that it's going to start clamping down on crypto gambling content 🎲
In a statement on Twitter, the streaming site admitted that gambling content has been "a big topic of discussion" in the community, adding:
"While we prohibit sharing links or referral codes to all sites that include slots, roulette or dice games, we've seen some people circumvent those rules and expose our community to potential harm." Sites that aren't licensed in the U.S. or other jurisdictions that provide sufficient consumer protection will be banned, and others may be identified going forward.Some streamers have boasted that they secured sponsorships worth more than $1 million a month from sites like Stake.com.
But there have been fears that the prominence of crypto gambling content has led some users to lose substantial amounts of money or develop an addiction.Earlier this month, one streamer admitted that he had scammed fans and other Twitch creators out of $200,000 to fund an addiction to betting on Counter Strike: Global Offensive.1 person liked this article
