Brandon Perea & Sasha Lane during Twisters interview
Summary Kate Carter is a former storm chaser pulled back into the dangerous world by her friend Javi, who wants to test his new groundbreaking technology in Twisters. Kate has purposefully stayed out of the storms after living through a devastating tornado in college, but she runs into social media celebrity storm chaser Tyler Owens who, along with his team, looks for the most dangerous tornadoes for the best online content.
Screen Rant interviewed stars Sasha Lane and Brandon Perea about the new disaster movie Twisters. They shared insight into their storm chaser characters and what they learned from the real-life meteorologists and storm chasers in "weather boot camp." Lane praised Chung's directing style and Perea revealed his own experiences with severe weather while filming.
Brandon Perea: Boone's crazy man wants to be in the eye of the storm, Tyler's right hand man. I'm there to capture all the footage and keep the crowd and the audience hyped. So we keep watching, getting more subscribers and also there to help and protect towns when having a good time while doing it. Brandon Perea: Learning about the commitment to their craft is so inspiring and it just made me more grateful as a human on this planet that there's people out there willing to learn more and to put themselves in danger in order to help us, to keep us safe and protected from these crazy weather scenarios. I just love their excitement to their craft.
Sasha Lane: It was just a lot of free range and the best thing was probably like, don't worry about capping your accent. I get a little twang sometimes I get a little overly excited and he's like, Just go with it. I think that helped me be like, Lily, she's kind of like what we were just talking about. I know why I'm there. I'm passionate one, about the storms, but also about helping people. It just made it have a more relaxed feel.
Yeah, that was one moment. And then there's times where I had a little rental car and I would be driving around by myself a lot. Whenever there was rain and clouds coming, I was like, Hold up. I don't know what to do in this situation properly, and I'm by myself. Is production going to be pissed off at me? So those were the moments that I had in Oklahoma. Wow. You never know. We're in tornado season, so you don't know what's going to happen.
