The latest installment of one of the GAA's most enduring rivalries takes place on Sunday at Pearse Stadium as Galway host Mayo in Salthill.
It is the first time since 2021 that the arch rivals will face off in the provincial final, though last year Mayo knocked their neighbours out of the Championship in the All-Ireland preliminary quarter-finals. Build-up to the game has been dominated by talk of a possible disadvantage to winning on Sunday. The Connacht champions will enter an All-Ireland 'group of death' alongside the losers of the Ulster decider between Donegal and Armagh, Westmeath and All-Ireland contenders Derry.
