At a press briefing on Friday, President Trump said that the federal government has temporarily suspended all payments on federally held student loans as a result of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.
The suspension will be in effect for “at least the next 60 days,” Trump said, “and if we need more, we’ll extend that.” Trump also announced that the Department of Education will not enforce standardized testing requirements for students in elementary through high school this year.Key background:
