Leaving aside the matter of diplomacy, there’s also the larger question of whether this ban will even be effective in fighting the coronavirus. The ban doesn’t apply to Britain, which has , and it exempts American citizens, permanent legal residents, and their families; ultimately, though, the disease doesn’t recognize citizenship status, a fact that seems to be lost on the Trump administration.
