President Trump reassures undocumented immigrants on coronavirus tests
WASHINGTON — President Trump said on Sunday that undocumented immigrants can receive testing for the coronavirus without fearing that it might leave them open to enforcement measures by ICE.
Surgeon General Jerome Adams reiterated the point. “We know that the virus doesn’t judge based on where you are from,” he said. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., announced Sunday that he had tested positive for exposure to the virus and would be quarantined at home. “The fear that this administration has fueled in immigrant communities is thwarting efforts to protect the public health of everybody,” an immigration attorney told The New York Times last week.
