Donald Trump had 88 million followers when he was banned from Twitter after his followers stormed the Capitol building in Washington D.C. on January 6, 2021.
Trump's road back to Twitter began after new owner Musk, 51, posted a poll on Friday night asking whether the former president should have his account reinstated.Musk,, said:"The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated. Vox populi, vox dei." The last words are Latin for"voice of the people, voice of God."

The former president later set up his own social media platform Truth Social.and has not posted on his account since a slim majority voted to bring him back.
On Saturday, Trump addressed the Republican Jewish Coalition's annual leadership meeting, and appeared to hint he would not return to Twitter. Responding to a question about the poll, Trump said that Musk was a"character", who he"got on well with" during his presidency. Trump was asked today about Elon Musk’s poll to reinstate him: “He’s a character. I tend to like characters. But I have something called Truth Social. It’s doing phenomenally well. Engagement is much better. I’ll be staying there. I don’t see it. I don’t see any reason for it.”
