President Donald Trump is considering using the White House as the backdrop in a made-for-TV campaign moment later this month, accepting his party's nomination in a speech from the heights of the building's Truman Balcony to a throng of fellow Republicans on the South Lawn below.
It's one of several scenarios arising from the current brainstorming sessions, according to Trump aides who described the thinking to CNN. Other possible backdrops range from the grandiosity of a US naval ship to the intimacy of the White House's private residence.With the coronavirus crushing the President's hopes of a conventional convention, Trump now wants to keep the event close to home -- literally.
