Ron DeSantis , who visited the state to promote his recent book, which fueled 2024 buzz.Trump's visit to Iowa on Monday inevitably creates a split-screen with DeSantis, who has consistently polled as his top likely 2024 rival. DeSantis has not declared his 2024 plans but has reportedly been musing about a summertime launch.
Iowa remains the first caucus in the Republican presidential primary, but it was recently booted from the leadoff state status on the Democratic side in a calendar shake-up that was backed by the Democratic National Committee earlier this year.
