In the weeks leading up to the assassination attempt against Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania Saturday, there was already increased Secret Service security around the former president after U.S. officials obtained intelligence that there may be an Iranian plot against him.
The Department of Homeland Security said its inspector general would investigate the Secret Service's security operation at the rally Saturday. It comes after new video emerged showing how law enforcement officers were stopped from reaching the shooter by a metal fence.
The official could not say which building the local swat team used, only that it was connected to the building the shooter used.
“In this particular instance, we did share support for that particular site, and that the Secret Service was responsible for the inner perimeter,” Cheatle said. “And then we sought assistance from our local counterparts for the outer perimeter. There was local police in that building. There was local police in the area that were responsible for the outer perimeter of the building.”Days after the attempted assassination of Trump at a Pennsylvania rally last weekend, Reps.
