Tropical storm develops off Baja California but won't pose any threat to San Diego County [Breaking]

A tropical storm named Madeline has developed off the southern tip of Baja California. But it won’t replicate Kay and send lots of heat, humidity and rain to Southern California.

The cyclone was located 935 miles southeast of San Diego at 2 p.m. on Monday and tracking away from land. “It’s moving west-northwest and basically only represents a threat to ocean-going vessels,” said Phil Gonsalves, a National Weather Service forecaster.Kay came within roughly 230 miles of San Diego earlier this month and pushed enormous amounts of moisture into Southern California, dropping more than 5 inches of rain on parts of Palomar Mountain.
