Breaking: Dad accused of killing baby Abel-Jax Mailey appears in court as trial date set
Oliver Mailey, 28, will stand trial accused of murdering Abel-Jax Mailey on January 11 2023. Emergency services were called to a house in Piccadilly Road, Burnley at 12.10pm on Sunday November 28 2021.
Abel-Jax was found unresponsive and was taken to hospital before being transferred to Manchester Children's Hospital for further treatment. The infant died two days later.A Home Office post mortem examination was carried out and further tests confirmed Abel-Jax died from a head injury. On Tuesday July 12, his father Oliver Mailey, 28, of Bowness Road, Burnley, was charged with his murder.
He was remanded in custody and appeared at Preston Crown Court via videolink today . He did not enter any plea and spoke only to confirm his identity. Judge Simon Medland QC set down the date for the trial to take place.READ NEXT:
