Trader Joe’s finally has confetti cake mix.
An unsuspecting goat’s milk cheese has been accosted with vanilla sugar in its rind. You’ve heard about having cheese for dessert, so I guess this is dessert…cheese. On the one hand, it makes for a good party trick to pull out and make everyone try . On the other hand, after the taxes I just paid, my cheese budget doesn’t allow for such gambles.These cute little pies have a great, buttery crust, with an expertly scalloped edge—though they add caramel color to it, which feels shady.
My own cat, at least, finally wanted to lick my face, but the perks were otherwise zilch. No seasoning other than salt. Why?Know that these fillets are flatties. My recommendation: Defrost them overnight in the fridge, then dip in egg, dredge in cornmeal, and shallow-fry until golden brown. Serve with tartar sauce, ranch, slaw, spicy jelly, whatever. I always stock up on frozen fish at Trader Joe’s, where it’s cheaper than anywhere, and the hake is a nice change from salmon.
