In 2021, the greatest number of people were killed, with 1,136 losing their lives; officers were charged in only 12 of those incidents — a 1% charge rate.database that tracks police killings, found that Black, Indigenous, and Latino people are 1.3 to 3 times more likely to be killed by police than a white person, depending on their race/ethnicity and the presence of a weapon. Regardless of whether the victim is armed, these racial discrepancies are still prevalent.
