The House Armed Services Committee launched an investigation Thursday into the delayed selection of a permanent base for the U.S. Space Command headquarters.
: The House Armed Services Committee launched an investigation Thursday into what it calls a"politically motivated" delay in the selection of a permanent base for theCommittee Chairman Mike Rogers, R-Ala., notified U.S. Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall and the U.S. SPACECOM commander, Gen. James Dickinson, of the investigation in a letter that warned against further delays.
House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers is trying to get to the bottom of delays in the selection of a headquarters for the U.S. Space Command. "Yet such changes have occurred," Rogers wrote."These apparently sweeping unilateral changes to policies and posture seem to have been made with zero civilian oversight at the Department of Defense."
Rogers launched the formal investigation after a request from Rep. Dale Strong, R-Ala., who is warning about the Biden administration’s"failure" to move on the location for the base. Redstone Arsenal is located in Huntsville, which is known as the"Rocket City" due to its long history in the space industry.
