Top Gun: Maverick star Glen Powell revealed that the thing that convinced him to join the film was seeing director Christopher McQuarrie and star Tom Cruise's collaboration Mission: Impossible - Fallout. The film, which came out in theaters on May 27 after significant pandemic-related delays, is a decades-later sequel to the 1985 hit Top Gun, which was directed by Tony Scott.
The day that I was sort of trying to figure out… whether I was going to do Top Gun or not, the morning that I talked to Tom and McQ was the morning that Mission: Impossible – Fallout came out.
