Tom Hanks is helping raise money for the Greater Cleveland Film Commission.
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The actor, who got his start in Cleveland as an intern at the Great Lakes Shakespeare Festival in the 1970s, is putting an autographed Wilson volleyball up for auction.
The winner will be drawn at the conclusion of his appearance on theThe volleyball is a replica of the one that appeared with Hanks in the 2000 film “Cast Away.” The ball is intended for display purposes and comes with a certificate of authenticity. To give you an idea of how much it might be worth, another Wilson volleyball signed by Hanks for the Cleveland Guardians home opener in April fetched $6,700.
