This is the third time Guthrie had a COVID-related absence from the show.
Cohost Sheinelle Jones broke the news to viewers during the 8 a.m. block of the broadcast after Guthrie stepped away.
“By the way, it has been an interesting morning for us,” Jones said. “As we said, Savannah left early, she wasn’t feeling great, so she took a COVID test. It came back positive.” “So, as soon as we found out, she rushed home to rest up. So, Savannah, we love you, wishing you a speedy recovery,” Jones added.
Even though the 51-year-old television host has been vaccinated and has received a booster shot, this is the third time Guthrie had a COVID-related absence from the show. Her first time off the air was in January 2022, according to reports. Additionally, “Today” cohost Hoda Kotb, 58, was absent on Tuesday as well, making both hosts of the “Today” show AWOL from the show.
