The Browns waived Cade York and hoped to sign him to the practice squad.
Their fourth-round pick last season out of LSU, York also made only 75 of his kicks as a rookie, going 24 for 32, with most of his misses coming at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
He went on to make three other extra points and a 40-yard go-ahead field goal in that 33-32 loss, but blew a chance to win the game when his 43-yard attempt was kicked low and blocked with 54 seconds remaining. After the game, York stressed that all the well-wished and pats on the back only served to frustrate him.
It marked the second straight game that York blew a chance at the potential gamewinner. In their 18-18 tie with the Eagles in the third preseason game, he pushed a 47-yard attempt wide right just after the two-minute warning, but was given a re-do when the Eagles were flagged for illegal formation. With just under two minutes left, he sent the 41-yarder wide left, overcorrecting on his other misses.
