The victim was taken to hospital and treated for several cuts notably to the left ear and cheek which was glued shut.
Cook led his victim to the scene to"meet a friend" before striking him to the ground.The attacker then demanded cash before rummaging through Mr McCallum's pockets - making off empty-handed.
Cook pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting Mr McCallum to his injury and attempted robbery. The court heard that the two men who had some form of familiarity with each other spoke in Glasgow city centre.Prosecutor Jessica McGowan said:"They walked to the Trongate turning 90 degrees into a corner."He approached the car and was then struck from behind to the left side of his face by Cook.Cook then repeatedly demanded"my money" and searched through the pockets, finding nothing.
