Reece Fraser bit so hard on Michael Johnston's earlobe that he detached part of it and left his victim scarred for life
A man who chewed off his love rival's ear during a fight in a gay nightclub has been ordered to hand his victim £1,600 compensation.
He admitted punching him on the body, seizing him and causing both of them to fall to the ground before biting his ear lobe and detaching part of it. "He recognises and accepts his responsibility. He is keen to pay compensation. It is important for him to realise it's not just a case of paying money, but being punished as well.
"His position was that he was on the ground, at the bottom, and he bit. He should have tried something else, other than the biting, which caused the disfigurement. Fiscal depute Lynn Mannion told Dundee Sheriff Court: "The locus is Pout bar and nightclub. The complainer and the accused were known to each other."
Ms Mannion said Mr Johnston and a friend arrived at the club shortly before midnight. Fraser approached and began to speak with the acquaintance, ignoring Mr Johnston.
