Cardiff Magistrates' Court heard that the fiend had been banned from the city and had "nowhere to stay" when he was released in June. He moved in with his new partner "with her consent" on July 11. After initially pleading not guilty, Thomas admitted the actual bodily harm and coercive behaviour between July 10 and September 10. This included repeatedly threatening the woman with violence, demanding she prove where she was and whom she was with, and checking her phone.
Top UK & World stories today Thomas has been diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder and his solicitor told the court that "perhaps that has a direct link to that sort of controlling behaviour". Mr Britton added that his client has been referred to the mental health team at HMP Cardiff.
