A-level results: 'Thousands' get wrong grades after 'marked absent' | Metro News
It is thought thousands of young people may have been given the wrong A-level results after being incorrectly marked down as absent for papers they had actually sat., but the AQA exam board disputes this without giving another figure.
Amber Bennett, 18, missed out on two university places according to the Ucas website, so assumed she didn’t get the right grades. She later found out her practical element in biology had been marked as ‘not classified’, which effectively failed her. Her teacher said she would contact AQA to correct the practical mark, and was told by the exam board her result would be amended last Wednesday.
Other students who queried their results also discovered they had been marked as absent for class tests or coursework, leaving them with ‘not classified’ results.
