This Toyota 86 save might also be an all-time drift.
Saving a race car requires a combination of perfect decision-making and dumb luck. In most situations, that means having a wide corner exit, quick hands, and nobody directly behind you to make the situation worse. When you get spun on a straight, with an entire field of racing cars behind you, that dumb luck component becomes much more important.
Australian racing driver Bailey Sweeny was running fifth coming toward the white flag in a spec Toyota 86 race this past weekend when he was clipped from behind while blocking on the far side of the racing line. A quick tank slapper gone wrong sent him spinning sideways through the straightaway, back into traffic.
