Tolleson hopes to open its new aquatic center, complete with a competition pool and lazy river, in summer 2024.
Tolleson plans to break ground on a new aquatic center in July and could have the center completed by next summer.
Babchuk said the city did community outreach to figure out what residents wanted out of their aquatic center. People mainly wanted slides, a lazy river, a competition pool, a shade area and an area to have events at the pool. The city has since hired an architect and design team, and Babchuk said the team has ensured in preliminary drawings that the aquatic center will have all of those features. No final design has been decided on yet.
