Burning Bush, an all-female group that hit the Phoenix punk underground in 1998 with “Tales from the Bush,' have reunited for two Arizona concerts.
Denise Tanguay had no idea what to think the first time she saw Burning Bush referred to as forerunners of the Riot Grrrl movement that flourished in the early '90s, driven by feminist punks as iconic as Bikini Kill and Bratmobile.

You don't think you're creating a movement when you're doing something creative and unique. You just keep doing what you're doing. Then somebody else labels it.
But they're getting back together for their first shows since their 2015 reunion, playing Phoenix and Tucson with Fat Gray Cat and Tanguay's current band, Yvonne Champagne. She and her bandmates are bringing their 7-Year Itch Reunion Shows to the Rhythm Room in Phoenix on Friday, Sept. 30, and Club Congress in Tucson on Saturday, Oct. 1.
Ryther was already playing in bands and asked Tanguay if she wanted to help form the all-girl band she was planning on putting together. They started"very rudimentary art-rock jamming jamming" at Ryther's house in Phoenix with Mona Nigohossian on drums.
