A look at the unique Standing on Business dessert at the Smokey John's Bar-B-Que, served on opening day at the State Fair of Texas on Sept. 27, 2024.will welcome dozens of new dishes to this year’s festivities, which kicked off on Friday. Think candied pork belly bacon bites, caramel macchiato fritters, cookie butter nachosIt starts with a sugar cone bowl filled with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, topped with a spicy dark chocolate cookie and a fried piece of sweet potato pie.
While preparations for the 24-day affair can be a challenge, the results outweigh the difficulties when it’s all put together, Reaves said.Smokey John’s won’t only be serving desserts at the 2024 state fair. It’ll also sell ribs, chicken and brisket and is introducing a new stand called Johnz Deli.
