The method combines an injected FDA-approved drug with high-speed cameras to offer an accuracy of 97 percent across tumor types.

Aiming to find a solution to this by leveraging modern technologies, a team led by Mass General Brigham researchers has created a visualization tool that uses high-speed cameras and fluorescent dyes to identify tumor tissue from normal tissue across cancer types. This is the first time it has been paired with tumor imaging and injectable dyes in patients. "By doing so, we’ve developed a technique for accurately distinguishing tumor tissue from healthy tissue across cancer types," said Anand Kumar, Ph.D., member of the Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging at Massachusetts General Hospital and author of the study, in a statement.
