This muddy Safari Rally stage is the best racing video you'll see all year.
In addition to being the inspiration for a few hundred lifted sports cars with snorkels and all-terrain tires, the Safari Rally Kenya became famous from 1973 to 2002 as the most difficult event on the World Rally Championship schedule for a car to survive. The rally went dormant as a top-level event for 19 years before returning in 2021, but it remains as difficult as ever. In perfect conditions, the rutted roads are the most difficult a rally car will see all year.
Both drivers are seen struggling to keep their WRC-spec Pumas on the narrow road through the Savannah at speed with perfect visibility and grip, then they reach the rain. A shot facing from the windscreen shows that visibility through wet sections is already terrible, and only made worse by constant splashes in huge puddles throughout the course.With the actual stage so difficult to navigate, you can forget how strange it is for cars to be here in the first place.

Hollywood writers at rally say they'll win as strike reaches 50 daysFifty days into a strike, and about 1,000 Hollywood writers and their supporters have marched across Los Angeles for a new contract with studios that includes payment guarantees and job security. Speakers at Wednesday's rally emphasized the solidarity the Writers Guild of America has received from other unions, including SAG-AFTRA. Writer and guild board member Adam Conover told the crowd at the La Brea Tar Pits, “We are going to win because they need us.” The group representing studios says the writers' demands would include paying them when there is no work. There have been no negotiations since the strike began on May 2.
