Lithium prices are forecast to remain high as demand outstrips supply, and investors should put this stock on their radar.
Lithium miners haven't been immune to the latest stock market sell-off, but Piper Sandler said the combination of the boom in electric vehicles and the broad focus on the transition away from fossil fuels should keep the theme on investors' minds. And Piper sees one stock that looks especially attractive: Livent .
Mining is resource and capital intensive, and projects often face local opposition due to potential impacts on surrounding ecosystems. Recession concerns have been the major driver of the recent sell-off in stocks. But Piper said that Livent should perform well even if there is a global economic slowdown. The firm believes that any pullback in auto sales would be focused on internal combustion engines rather than electric vehicles.
