Love Island
has been a part of our lives for eight years now. Like any long-term relationship, fans have come to know the dating series intimately and have strong opinions on what works and, crucially, what doesn’t. Over recent years, the shouts against production decisions have been growing louder. Fans have declared that they don’t want to see a cast of influencers who care more about fame and Instagram followers than finding love. They won’t abide producers sitting by and watching misogyny and controlling behaviour go unchallenged and unpunished.has been accused of racism, sexism, ageism, fatphobia and more – currently, there are certainly more negatives to be said of the show than positives.
But tonight, the show returns to ITV2 with its second winter edition, and, from a distance, it seems like something of a fresh start. The biggest change is in the presenter.
