Eddie Taylor, 54, was charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, in Cleveland Municipal Court. He is not in custody, Cuyahoga County sheriff’s deputies say.
At about 1:40 p.m. March 16, Taylor approached a teller at Ohio Savings Bank, on the corner of Bridge Avenue, and displayed a note that said, “This is a robbery,” according to a police affidavit. Taylor demanded $50 and $100 bills, prosecutors allege. The masked, hooded robber threatened to shoot the teller if the bank employee pressed an emergency button. The thief never brandished a gun, according to a police report. He fled the bank with $1,900.
An FBI agent located the suspect’s sweatshirt and hat, which were abandoned behind a pizzeria a half-block away, the police report said. Surveillance footage from the pizza shop showed the suspect ditching his clothing and running toward Cleveland Clinic Lutheran Hospital.
