To be perfectly honest, I bought a handheld vacuum because I thought it was cute. I don’t have enough storage space for a full-sized vacuum—nor, really, an apartment big enough to warrant using one at all. But I do make my fair share of messes , especially in the kitchen, where aand a dustpan isn’t always the right team for the job. A little research led me to the Black+Decker Dustbuster, which, at 2.6 pounds, was objectively adorable.
The Black+Decker Dustbuster is appealing for a few reasons, namely that it’s compact, inexpensive, and features a rotatable nozzle with brush attachment for dusty and hard-to-reach spots. I thought I would use it sporadically, under very specific circumstances, like when cleaning my highest shelves or the crack between my oven and the wall. But in the years since its arrival on my doorstep, it has become my most-used cleaning appliance and a true champion in every room of the house.
. It has incredibly strong suction, primed to eliminate even something so light as a dusting of flour from the countertop after an enthusiastic baking project. It makes cleaning stray bits off the floor almost magical, almostOf course, outside of the kitchen, this vacuum does just as good a job. Before mopping, I poke its nose into the corners of my bathroom. I use it on my fluffy living room rug.
Since I bought mine, a newer version of the Black+Decker Dustbuster has come to market, with a few minor upgrades. Primarily, instead of the charging cord, which on my model plugs directly into the body of the vacuum, the latest Dustbuster comes with a sleek charging base which looks similar to afor electronics. Keeping the vacuum upright on the base means it’ll stay fully charged and ready to go at a moment's notice .
